Willow Ridge Community Building Activity

So the Baha'is of Decatur held a week-long Baha'i camp at Willow Ridge - a neighborhood in Decatur, Georgia (USA). The camp was held daily from 10 am to 12 (noon), and about 30 kids attended daily. There were ~3 main teachers, and a few assistants. The class normally happens at Willow Ridge every Saturday. :o)

We started with a welcome song, prayers, and then often a reading of a quotation. English is often the second or third language for most of the kids.

Then we had arts and creativity activities. The kids made a huge banner which they paraded around the neighborhood on the final day. They also made door knob labels which the left on every door in the neighborhood.

These are some pictures from the camp.

My camera, your pictures?

So I've always wondered about crediting pictures and how that works. I think different people have different styles... When an online magazine or website or whatever uses one of my pics from my flickr page or from my website, I ask that they link the picture back to my page, and possibly credit me, i.e. "Picture by Adib Roy".

But what happens when someone picks up one of ur cameras and starts shooting, at a wedding or a party or something? Are those pictures yours? Are they the photographers'? Does it even matter? So could the person take the picture if the camera/lens wasnt what it was? Can anyone take good pictures with a "good camera" (whatever that means)... Endless questions... :op

Why?

Why this blog?

Well, some of my friends encouraged me to start this blog, for several reasons - to talk about how I do what it is that I do (oh and by the way, I'm a photographer), to post some of my stuff on a blog and talk about it, to talk about what goes into wedding photography and why pictures aren't released the day after the wedding, etc...

Lets get one thing straight from the beginning... I'm not a writer! I repeat - I am NOT a writer. So if you're coming here for literary inspiration, buddy, you're in the wrong place! But I do take some pictures, so we'll talk about that...

Stay tuned and thanks for reading! :o)
